I was thinking about this for some reason, and figured here would be a good place to talk about it. I stim quite often, but there are a few things I only do when I'm aroused (other than the obvious touching lol). For instance, this is ones of the only times that I want to chew on things. I'm still a...

Oh my gosh, please get rid of automatic toilets. They are really annoying and usually [pun intended] scare the crap out of me. I also dislike automatic sinks becaue they never stay on long enough, plus its hard to position your hands right to activate the sensor. One thing I will say, I love the sup...

More like I actually am confused all the time XD Jokes aside, I too have the issue of looking spaced out most of the time, even though I am always very aware of my surroundings. Not foccusing my eyes helps me see more around me, and also makes ot easier to focus on sounds, so I dont often focus my v...

Many autistic people have obsessions which we commonly refer to as "special interests," or SI's. These can be quite literally anything that peaks our interest. They can range from broad subjects, like biology, to smaller niches, like domestic feline genetics, and often includes a strong de...

Tics aren't necessarily caused by tourettes, and some individuals experience them from other neurological issues. In fact, they are a less-common symptom of autism. Tics differ from stims because stims are a response to a need for, well, stimulation. They are sometimes intentional and sometimes not,...

I feel like there's nothing wrong with what the memes are saying, usually, but using the terminology "OCD" to refer to the natural desire to be clean and organized is rather trivializing to people who actually have the anxiety disorder, or the personality disorder in my case, and makes it ...

It is definitely worth it to save your money and buy a better quality binder; it will save you many hours of discomfort / pain, and also last longer. It doesn't have to be super fancy [I buy mine from Underworks, which are okay], but avoid the cheap ones.

Most days I just wear a t shirt and either jeans or pajama pants [depending if I'm out in public or not lol], but when I feel like putting effort into my appearance I dress rather "punk," meaning dark makeup, collars, and leather boots and jacket, but the base jeans and t shirt doesn't cha...

| I work at a fast food restaurant primarily in the drive thru window, but when we have no customers and I've completed all my secondary tasks, I find myself getting increasingly restless. | I speak louder than average, but it often escalates to shouting without me realizing when I get excited or when I am in a loud place. If pointed out, I am able to consciously lower my volume back down to normal [well, normal for me], and my family actually has a hand signal they use when we're in pu... |

As an autistic person with a special interest in linguistics, I would certainly say a knowledge of language and / or an eloquence of speech is certainly not enough to rule out a diagnoses. When I was little, I was nonverbal by choice, not by lack of a ability, and in fact I was very articulate when ...

I've often felt as though I am very empathetic, but it is difficult for me to express it in ways that seem sincere, and I believe many other autistic people feel the same or similar. However, I have also heard of autistic people being undersensitive to emotions or to sensory stimulation, rather than...
