Hey, everybody. I'm Stevopedia. I was diagnosed with AS when I was 11 (I'm 16 now). I stumbled upon this site while reading up on AS on Wikipedia yesterday. I quickly realized that I'd fit right in, so here I am! Hello Stevopedia (brilliant name by the way :D). I was diagnosed with Autism when I wa...

i cant stay on the road  Your gas-pedal foot should feel like it's centered over that dark strip of unworn pavement in the center of your lane. At least that's how it works in American cars. I didn't drive until I was 21, and I took special lessons for people with spatial difficulties. (like ...

Nice to meet you. I was diagnosed at 5, but only because I solved most social problems by biting. Now I'm 24, married to another Aspie, and work as a TSS with more severely affected autistic kids. (It seems I'm very good at solving what they want and playing the silly games that promote speech.) Now...

Papers for me depended on hom much citation I needed to provide. If the expected me to cite every tiny fact, I'd get a C because I already knew too much about the topic to realize what needed a citation and work from memory. If they expected prior knowledge with citations for depth, I was golden. I'...

I have had disabling gait problems for ten years now without diagnosis. I also have AS with sensory processing disorder and walked tiptoe until the gait problems made me too unstable to do so. Now, while it's possible my doctors know nothing and are missing something obvious, I'd like to figure out ...

Your parents are jerks. I entirely agree. I cut them out of my life for reasons far greater than what is said here. Mom was abusive, dad was neglectful. Both blamed me for everything. Heck my parents both decided I was responible for the glass of milk that was set on top of the tv and and knocked o...

...many on this site who have picked this view up and pretend they like being Aspie, that in fact they are in awful social pain and isolation . ...We need cures... Speak for yourself only please. You don't know me at all (nor do you really know the "many" others on this site) and you have no right ...

You said from the ASD end , that means that if have AS will prob have SPD? Not that if have SPD will likely have AS ? Or ? Not quite sure which way round you meant that. Would like to know more about this! Thank you very much for your original post too. :) I had been confounding the two terribly! 8...

[quote="computerlove Gilly: do you have a sister? ;)[/quote] Lol, I have two sisters, both NTs that didn't understand a bit of this. Though being an Aspie girl, once you get through the childhood awkwardness, makes one a hot, hot commodity if you date in the right circles. Gender-skewed disorders ar...

Anyone else find the iPod to be a fabulous tool for socially blending? I just returned from Wal-Mart. I hate going to large, public places full of choices, sights, logos, and large often ill-mannered strangers. I find myself feeling so self-conscious over their bad behavior, like blocking aisles, or...

Inappropriate laughter is listed as a stim, but from personal experience, I can tell you that you can be laughing very appropriately, say while having fun, and then simply find that it builds and builds until you can't stop it. As I got older, I hated when this would happen because it was disruptive...

:) That's how my husband and I work. We are both Aspies who had huge trouble wading through all the subtext and subtlety in relationships with NTs. We always felt (and usually correctly) like we were doing it wrong, or not meeting expectations we couldn't even name. Together, we click. We never have...

I am puzzled that you separate them up,( into Aspergers and a Sensory Processing Disorder) , BECAUSE so many posts on here seem to use evidence of sensory processing difficulties, meltdowns, stimming, etc etc, as PROOF of being Aspergers! If they are separate how can one be proof of the other ? And ...

It may be my general ease of confusedness, but I thought I was pretty happy. I'm an Aspie married to an Aspie and working in the evil old behavioral health field. I have 4 clients. One nonverbal, two semi-verbal, and one Aspie. I help the first three express their wants, needs, and feelings, and I h...
