| Hi all. :) I'm not exactly new but it's been over a year since I posted here. A little about myself, I'm 28 years old and I'm a self-diagnosed Aspie. I would get diagnosed but it would cost $1500 and I don't have that kind of money. It's always been really hard for me to make friends...I do have one... |

| For me it would probably be Internet friends. I have an easier time communicating online rather than in real life, and it would be easier for me to make friends online. |

| I've often wondered about this myself. Will I ever be socially confident? I hope one day I will. My problem is I often don't know what to say to people, or how to respond when someone says something to me. It's like I have a brain freeze. Even online sometimes I get "stuck" and don't know what to sa... |

My facial expression almost never matches how I really feel.
People say I smile a lot. Which isn't a bad thing I guess -- but sometimes, even when I'm feeling sad or having a bad day, people say, "you must be really happy!" or "what a nice smile!" Maybe it's just a part of having AS? |

| I have mixed feelings about a cure. On one hand, I would really like to have normal life, go out and meet people and know how to converse with them, maybe have a family. On the other hand, I kind of like being different. I've been this way for almost 27 years now and I've sort of grown used to it. I... |

| My cousin was recently diagnosed with a mild form of autism, and my brother is studying to be a nurse and wants to help autistic kids -- it interested me so I started looking up autism on the Internet. I read an article about AS and it sounded exactly like me. |

I don't have panic attacks. I just don't feel like going out and interacting with people. |

| I know exactly how you feel. I'm 26, will be 27 next month, and still living at home with my mother. I do have a job but it's a rather low paying one. I have no friends and never go out. I've never had a boyfriend or even been on a date. I'm also looking for my purpose in life -- some days I think I... |

Yeah -- I'm the same way. I feel like people just don't "get" me -- if that makes any sense.
I, too, feel some sort of empty feeling. Like there's something missing. Just don't know what it is. |

| Try going to the library and looking for books about dragons and elves. I'm sure they have quite a few. |

| I would probably be writing stories. Maybe even a novel. I haven't written anything in years -- been thinking about starting back writing again -- even bought a notebook to write in. Just can't think of a good plot. |

I've always loved the name Ashleigh.
In fact, I like to write stories and in one of my stories I had a character named Ashleigh. It's a cool name. |

I've been on the Internet since 1997 and have had literally hundreds of screen names/user names on AOL, and various message boards. I can't even remember most of them.
I have to say I'm pretty happy using Denali right now. |
