Bipolar is difficult to diagnose because, like Asperger's, it is a spectrum disorder. It's much easier to diagnose than ASDs as there is much more known about the condition. Autism is irrelevant in this issue, hence why it is ignored by the medical experts you are seeing.

SSRIs are terrible for bipolarI and can have adverse effects.
Also, bipolar is relatively easy to diagnose.
So to answer your question: no I don't think you are bipolar, else your doctor is an idiot.
