""Because aspergers isn't even a disease. Its more of a highly developed case of misanthropy or cynicism. If aspergers is a mental illness then gayism ought to be as well."" I found this on another site through a google search. What is the cause of so much hatred towards us with AS? What do we reall...

Hi! Lately, my hearing has been really acute. I can hear my eardrums vibrating, soda fizzing, birds chirping, cats licking themselves... Just make it STOP!! ! So, do any of you guys have hearing like this? If so, how do you cope with it? This could be an advantage as I have it also and I could hear...

I was in the air force. I'm not trying to sell the AF but being an aspie or HFA you might want to consider that since living conditions tend to be better than other branches (not 100% guaranteed, though). By that I mean more space and privacy in your living quarters. My younger brother was in the n...

I don't understand why AS is considered "medically unfit" in the first place. That just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm active duty Navy myself (two years in on a six year contract). If you want to do it because you want to serve your country or anything of that ilk, go for it. But if it's just because you want structure, or you feel stuck in a rut, check your options on the outside first. There's a lot of struc...

I tried to join the navy as a nuclear engineer. I got a 90 on the asvab so test wise I qualified. I had 2 main reasons. You could do college if you choose to while in the service, while getting paid so it was the best option money wise, and a 12k sign on bonus. The second reason was for some friend...

What do you guys think? I have been diagnosed for many years now and I am soon to be 22 in March, unemployed, still living with mother, not much going on. I am single with no girlfriend, I don't do much all day except use the computer or maybe read. I am in good shape and I do go to the gym every no...

So this is just an idea about how to change the makeup of the army to save money. Instead of signing up for a predetermined amount of time (usually 4 years for a single enlistment), you get to sign up to cover a training cycle of 2 to 3 months. The basic training phase would last longer (9 months) ...

Well I am 21 and still a virgin. I am an average looking guy, in decent shape but for some reason I am just too strange and cannot hold conversations with women. They really do not understand me. How do other Aspies cope with this, and how do you talk to women?

I feel like us Aspies are great optimists, we always look at life saying "it will happen eventually", be it a relationship, building on our social skills, or getting a job. We always look at life saying we will grow in to it. Will most people will just sit there and mope, we always stay up. At least...

Hello, fairly new member first time posting in a while. I'm 21 years old and as you know dealing with AS is pretty tough as many people do not understand this disorder. I am a pretty quiet and reserved guy, however I am very open with my friends or family whom I am comfortable around. My parents of ...

I am now about to be 21 and suffered from Aspergers since I was young. I've made great strides since(I can usually make eye contact and I always can hold a conversation). My question here is, how many of you have sort of "outgrown" some symptoms, yet you still struggle with nervousness, paranoia, de...
