Media has taught the average Joe that's what autism is. Most of it isn't true but the average Joe doesn't know that. There's also stereo-types that just won't believe anything else even after proof that what they think isn't true. I don't really understand... people on WP are always saying that the...

Whenever people imagine someone who has Autism, they either think someone who is mentally ret*d or an Einstein-Esq Genius.

Why is this?

1: The Daily Mail is only a very small step ahead of the Onion in terms of credibility. Take anything you read there for a grain of salt. Better yet, just avoid reading it altogether. 2: It wouldn't surprise me to find that more aspies tend to be atheists, since aspies tend to be less prone to the ...

Okay this may seem weird, but I frequently chew the collar of my shirt and the edges of my blanket out of habbit. Once the texture of the collar/blanket has dried up I enjoy rubbing my fingers on the ruff surface I explained it strangely and now I sound like an idiot  anyway, is this sort of l...

In canada, it's over diagnosed, so they've made it quite restrictive to get a diagnosis. You have to see your regular doctor, get a recommendation to see a psychologist, then get a recommendation from them to get a psychological evaluation, which is then done by a team of people to ensure an accura...

I've been reading about someone named Chris-chan recently. Is what those wiki articles say about him true? He is really an embarrasment... apparently he walked around the mall with "looking for girlfriend" and the trolls of 4chan made him depressed. 8O And he was autistic and hated people with asper...

Would you say Aspergers is over diagnosed?

I'd say it is. It's slightly sad that people self-diagnose (not ALL self-diagnosed) themselves with AS, and act like complete dicks and just say they have AS and get away with it.

Especially a kid at my school. :x

Do you get extreme anxiety like me when someone is late to pick you up? If my mom is even 5 minutes late, I begin pacing, chewing on my nails, and call her multiple times.

So do you have anxiety problems with people being late?

He sounds like he is simply seeking attention. Trying to hang oneself with a dog leash sounds like a little more than simple attention seeking behavior. I hate how people try to dismiss that there are adolecents/teens who are at risk for suicide and are depressed that belief does more harm than goo...

I have to be one of the most unorganized people in the world. I am always throwing caution to the wind by letting important documents and files sit around randomly in my room. The only time I clean my room is when my parents tell me to, and if they haven't told me for say a week, my room is a pig-st...

Maybe but today he had all my attention as it was only me and him, I have often gone away alone with him for weekends he is involved in sports and the same conversation, wanting to die and death. He would be anxious about the sport event. Maybe its when he is stressed out and it the only way he can...

Well I have aspergers and people call me an aspie. What do you call people who have more serious problems on the spectrum? Aussies? People will think I'm talking about Australians.
