Simple answer is yes. I have these wonderful blackout curtains that make my bedroom completely dark at night. I can't have it any other way. If the light is on in the hallway outside my bedroom door than it deeply, deeply irritates me.

I think that normalcy is all relative to the person. You can't say that someone is abnormal because what may be abnormal for you is normal and usual for that person.

I hate being touched. My mother tells me I was "cuddly" until about five, but I can't tolerate touch now. My mother could just come up and hug me and I'll completely freak out. It's unfortunate, I suppose. However, from the absolute very beginning, I could never stand someone touching my head. My mo...

I've been wondering about this ever since seeing Mozart and the Whale when Skeets is playing with the hand-held egg beater. Me personally, I like things like that as well as salad spinners and yo-yos. I also enjoy the bouncing balls that light up when you throw them and I once had this contraption t...

White noise is very comforting to me, but more things are annoying to me than not. For example, in English class we're doing these "poetry jam sessions" (teacher's words not mine) and instead of applauding, everyone has to snap their fingers. When twenty five people are all napping their fingers, it...

Good for you! I must be odd... I love filling out forms. Not the ones where they ask you questions and leave a blank space where you make up an answer... but things like "Name, Address, Date of Birth" - maybe I just like the neat, incontrovertible rules. I'm with Jeyradan on this one. If it's open ...

I hate it when people do this! My mother does it to me. She treats me as if I'm five and everything has to be explained to me. I'm eighteen years old and she treats me as if I'm ten years younger than my younger sister, who is more socially advanced and capable at seventeen than I will ever be. If I...

It's odd that someone put this topic up. I was thinking about the likelihood that Tony Stark was aspie just this evening. I can't think of any other superheroes who may be on the spectrum, though. Great thing to post though.

I'm incredibly nervous for my first gynecologist visit. I have a problem with people touching me and I can't think about the appointment without being frightened, anxious and self-conscious of someone being that close to me physically. I've never had sex before, but I understand it's vital to have a...

Again, I didn't quite know where to put this topic. I'm adopted and I was just wondering if any other aspies or possible aspies have been adopted and raised by their adoptive parents.

Huge "guilty pleasure" still to this day, as they say, is Spyro the Dragon. I've played those games about fifteen times each. I can't help it. It's a comparably simpler game than, say, the Final Fantasy saga but I still like it. I also have a ritual for playing: It is absolutely vital for me to pick...

It has to be said that I never thought this topic would get quite a bit of replies in the first 24 hours, so I'm quite happy about that. Nice to know I'm not the only one who does this :) . I correct teachers all the time in terms of their spelling and grammar, but I also correct people on facts (I'...

I'm a woman, and from what you've said I can't find a reason to find you repulsive in the least. You sound like a great guy (especially if you have a sense of humour), and you're not unattractive. I'm sure you'll find someone soon; it sounds like any girl would be lucky to have you.

| I don't even know if this should be in this category of General Autism Discussion, but I was wondering if anyone has this particular tendency. I am a human spell-check! | I have a tendency to speak in an English accent and it apparently annoys people. So they tell me. I always answer the phone in the accent (which actually seems very natural to me) and I use it when out in public. I am also a huge Anglophile with an obsession with all things English and I watch an in... |

17 years old . I'm not diagnosed, but when I was looking for information on Obsessive-Compulsive and Social Anxiety Disorders (which I AM diagnosed with), Asperger's came up and upon further research I found that AS described me perfectly. I would like to go to my psychologist and ask if she can co...
