Right now I'm currently living in Korea and I mention this because I think it really describes what living with being on the autism spectrum is like. It's like you are an outsider experiencing someone else's culture. You can make life long connections. You can communicate and have a great time but you never grew up there. You aren't from there and although you might adopt the country as your own , it's not the place you come from
it's why I choose a life of traveling, because I don't feel like I have a home. I don't think I belong anywhere. I don't feel at home with my family and closest friends.
I was recently diagnose with being on the autism spectrum and this site was mentioned to me. I hope I can find support, answers, and maybe help someone in need as well. These are some of my experiences with autism.
To the outside individual I appear as a normal well adjusted person; maybe a bit odd or eccentric but still normal. I am successful in my career, I don't have trouble making new friends and I do alright with the ladies. I am generally well liked most places I go. What people don't realize is all the countless hours I spent researching and studying the most basic of human interaction. I studied; emotions, humor, how to shake hands correctly, how to have conversations, body language, what to do in a social atmosphere; I even read a dictionary so I could better communicate with words... e.t.c. The list goes on. To this day I get really anxious around people and social interactions. I still struggle regularly with normal day to day things and I am far from proficient at communicating, but I have learned how to live in a world that I feel a stranger too.

Growing up before I became the man I am today I didn't understand why I was so different from everyone and I suffered bouts of depression and suicidal thoughts. Although I worked through my issues it would have big help to know what was really going on with me. That is why I am really glad I found this site and I recommend it to others who also deal with this.
Hello everyone.
