"The Great Influenza" book and the story/narrative approach

The power point presentations in science classes where we classify and classify often leave me dry.

To me, the case study method feels far more natural.

As an example of this, you might want to see "The Great Influenza" by John Barry, which I think is just an excellent book. In one part, he talks about how the influenza virus attaches to specific receptor sites, takes over the cellular machinery to produce more copies of itself, and bursts free in a way which allows these copies to roam. And John talks as well about the body's considerable defenses.
