Why do I feel so guilty?
my son was like this only with hugs. He would ug anyone who stood still long enough, and ESPECIALLY babier or kids smaller then him. Most kids and adults tok offense to this. I am talking about when he was 2-5yo that he did this heavily. He has mostly outgrown his hugging, but will still hug hello and goodbye and try to hug his friends, but we have tought him to hi five instead. He hugs his Drs, Dentists, even surgeons...he hugs his Senseis and his group teachers.
Our affectionate kiddos! At least it isnt hitting ![]()

My son displayed indiscriminate affection with strange adults. He seem particularly attracted to men with beards, and older men and women. He didn't do this so much with other children, so we didn't have the same problem. He would hug strangers all the time, or just go and sit in their laps. He was always walking up to big men with beards in the gas station or in restaurants (like biker looking dudes) and giving them hugs. When we would go to the nursing home to visit his great-grandmother, he would sit in anybody's lap. We would turn around for a second and he would be across the room in somebody's lap. They didn't ask, he just crawled up in their lap, and touched their face or sat there. It was kind of scary for us, because we were always worried he would just wander off with some stranger, but luckily most peope thought it was cute and adorable. He stopped doing it about age 7.
