Fundamental Christians tend to be very hypocritical. They aren't supposed to be wealthy. They are meant to give it away etc.

N.B. I don't have a problem with religion, just that some people go too far and try to force it on you.

My opinion has always been to believe in what you want, as long as you don't force it on others.

Finally a relegious view (I hope) we can all agree on!

Even if it weren't wrong, forcing religion on someone would be futile, you can force someone to act in a certain way but it is impossible to force someone to believe.

Well there isn't any proof that any religion's right.

Anyone see that South Park episode where loads and loads of people were hell, and they were all confused why they were there, so someone asks a worker at hell why they're there and he replies "Sorry, Mormons was the correct religion".

Exactly, if we want people to accept what we believe we just have to be people that others respect, appriciate and desire to be around/like.

Or something like that. I spent my life walking out of religious talks and churchs because of their inability to practice what they preach. I am glad they are happy but I can not and will not stay in those situations.

people who either cannot or will not think for themselves wil always look for something outside to "tell them what to do", even if it's as mild as guidance, rather than dogma. and those sorts of people will have an external locus of control, which means they devolve responsibility for themselves, their thoughts and actions onto an external agency (e.g. "god/the devil made me do it").

given human nature, it's hardly surprising that religion is such a big magnet.

i prefer thinking to following, or worse still, allowing myself to be led. and i'm not an atheist, by the way.
