http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,275524,00.html

I read somewhere that the "brave" kid shot the poor pig 8 (eight) times to slow it down and finished it off with ONE , point blank shot to the head after a 3 hour chase through the woods.

So the defenceless hog was basically dying slowly for 3 hours before the little sh*t finished it off ! !

Hunting of ALL types MAKES ME SICK ! !! !! !! !

I pick worms up off paths so they don't get stood on ! !!

I don't like hunting myself, but I don't object to others doing it. Sometimes it is necessary. We have a really big deer population in the area where we live. If it isn't controlled, then they will just overrun everything.

I would not object to deer taking over the world.

But....the deer wouldn't provide you with the internet, or anything else you're used to.
There are too many deer anyway.

EDIT: Read the story. That's a big hog. Half a ton. 8 shots with a .50cal revolver..... and they had high powered rifles aimed at it the entire time. Would've been much more efficient just to kill it then, instead of waiting three hours. Not much fun in hunting when there's no threat at all of being hurt or attacked by the hunted.

Besides, deer is good eating.

Hmmm, hams the size of truck tires... think of the Easter dinner you could have. Invite the whole county!

One that big and old would be tough. Not just hard to kill but the meat would be tough. Sometimes they are captured, penned up, and fed a controlled diet to improve the meat. In some states wild hogs are not considered game animals like deer. They are the property of whoever's land they happen to be on even though they are wild and come and go as they please.

In the aftermath of this story I also read in a few articles that said ..... IF had they CAPTURED the hog ALIVE , various zoos /reservations would have started bidding at $100,000 for it , due to the fact that it WAS probably the largest hog in the world and , as such, would have been a FANTASTIC attraction.

So the kid's dad actually "shot himself in the butt" you may might ...... he's hopefully regretting letting his little kid slaughter the innocent, harmless animal that could have netted him a couple of hundred thousand dollars ! ! Ha ! !!

I just don't understand why people KILL innocent , harmless creatures for FUN ???????

I JUST DON'T GET IT ! !! !

I've read that those long chases really tire the animals muscles out and the meat is very
high in latic acid as result given the meat a very gamey taste.

Yeah the other day I was about to get picked up by my sister and I noted a worm on the hot sidewalk. So I moved him to some grass and put him under a pile of grass so he would not bake in the sun.

The thing about hogs in the wild in North America is that they are NOT NATIVE (pigs and boars are from Eurasia), an INVASIVE SPECIES. Many USA states, including Wisconsin, have issued 'shoot on sight' orders to hunters for wild pigs, they are that damaging to the environment. They are also VERY DANGEROUS animals, will attack anything that they perceive as being a threat and often take more than one shot to kill.

Face it, since we humans have essentially eliminated natural predators from the food chain, we MUST take their place, otherwise we'd literally be overrun by such creatures as deer, rabbits, etc.

But that is no excuse to torture an animal. The only reason to do so would actually be a form of sport, try and give the animal a chance. thats the only reason to prolong it. Not to have fun.

I hunt. I do not do it for fun. I do it for meat.

If you're not a vegetarian, then shut up.

I suppose you'd rather eat an animal that lived its entire life in a cage being fed all sorts of disgusting chemicals, and then someone did the dirty work for you because you were too delicate and civilized to be able to look it in the eye and acknowledge that it gave its life so you could eat.

Get over yourself.
