Vet just rang me for another update. Four legs ate a little bit of moist kitten food, laced with an appetite increasing drug and something called creon to help him process it in light of his gastric inflammation.. this the first food he has taken in a week, and the same plan will continue until he is eating normally again. No bottom output yet, though that's to be expected given the long time since he was last able to eat anything. His temperature has stabilised, though he is still troubled by discharges from his nose and eyes. Mouth issue has slightly improved under the influence of the antibiotics. Today, the vet said, he seems more comfortable and much brighter in himself.

This is the best news so far. The vet was also wondering how I was getting on, as I was a near basket case of frantic desperation on Monday when he was admitted, given his dire situation.

I am getting better as long as he is getting better. My son's partner guessed (correctly) that I hadn't been eating well myself though this and brought over some lovely gluten free goodies, so both four legs and I have been feeding today :)
A friend called by and said I had lost a lot of weight since she saw me 2 weeks ago, which surprised me as I hadn't noticed. The sleepless nights and stress and times I forgot to eat probably the cause of that.

If they had a bed for me at the vets I'd be there in a flash, just so he could hear my voice and know that I haven't abandoned him. As before, if this progress continues, he will be home in about four days' time. So looking forward to that first cuddle up with him.

Guns aren’t the issue
Gun control is avoiding fixing the real issues.
A guy with a revolver killed as many people as a guy with a ar15. Instead of trying to solve the issue we instead attack each other and get nothing done

It's nice to know your pet is feeling better :) How old is he? Pets are wonderful friends to have and fill a part of our hearts that no one else can begin to fill

He is estimated as 13 years old now. He was a stray cat until age 8 or 9, judging from his teeth then, rescued at that stage and brought to his first and only home. He has never spent a night away from it since, until his admission to hospital care earlier this week.

Given his history, he is bonded only to me, (which took a lot of time to create) and fearful of all other humans, with the remarkable exception of my autie 21 year old grandson, which is an inexplicable exception.

From all other visitors, he hides under my bed and won't come out until they leave.

Given his dreadful state when I first saw him, and brought him home, I have tried to make up for those harsh years with as much care, love and attention as I can. First thing I had to do was have all but 2 teeth removed, they were so diseased that he must have been in chronic and extreme pain for a long time. He found being inside a building very terrifying at first, panicked and tried to jump through closed windows to escape, nearly knocking himself out.

In the years since we have come a long way together on a special bonding journey, I believe that animals can experience love just as we do, and he is my dearest little friend, companion and best buddy.

He and my previous cat were both senior rescues, I highly recommend this for anyone who is a fairly experienced owner, and has no other animals in the home. As their socialisation happens at such a late stage, they need to be the focus without distractions from other animals competing for love and attention.

I love him dearly, and he grew to love and trust me beyond my wildest hopes, but it took time.
and wants to alleviate feline suffering.

That's so nice that you and your loving pet created such a wonderful bond

Some people don't think so but I definitely agree with you that animals can experience love and trust. Sometimes, as you proved a lot of love and hard work can create an unbreakable bond in which you'll have a friend like no other.

I love how pets can be so loving, loyal and friendly. I have a friend who has a dog called BB and he's such a friendly dog. If you're upset he actually tracks you down and gives you a cuddle, he's a remarkable dog with a big heart.

It sounds like your cat is very much the same. I love animals. But don't have any pets at this moment in time, too busy and not enough time to look after and care for them.

Please let me know how his recovery goes. Keeping you both in my thoughts :)

Dawn. x

We've only ever gotten stray kittens. Good on you for rescuing older cats, especially one who appears to have been as abused or neglected as he had been. I'm guessing that he senses that your grandson is absolutely no potential threat, which is really great. And I'll say another little prayer that your cat not only survives, but continues to thrive. And be sure to keep taking care of yourself, too. He needs you to be around.

She could be just a liberal, or maybe even a conservative. Maybe the lady is not against guns. Not all liberals are against guns.

she’s a liberal who doesn’t like conservatives
So it’s likely she a rabid anti trump who hates trump supporters and says they racist nazis and who probably supports gun control.
So I have to hide stuff which is close to lying or so feels to me.
If I’m having a bad day and she ask how my days going I have to lie and say it’s great

I don't think conservatives are necessarily racists and Nazis---not by a long shot.

My father was a conservative; he wasn't a racist or Nazi.

I have a great admiration for John McCain, conservative. So did many people.

8 - out getting things done. 8)

Liberals are so terrible what with their believing in human rights, education, healthcare for all, welfare/disability social safety nets, food programs, minimum wage, employment standards, marriage equality, wage equality, women’s rights etc. Just awful political beliefs. No wonder so many people are incompatible with liberals. Liberals, ew gross!
