Rather irritated....my mom was acting a bit strange making me question if I'd want her as a payee if SSI decides I need one, luckily I have a friend who might be willing to and I know without a doubt I can trust him I kinda wonder about my mom sometimes though.

I don't think you should make your mom or anyone else for that matter a payee. You should get your own bank account, and have your SSI check direct deposited into it. If you have to pay your mom rent, then you should write her a check to cover your share. It's your money. You should deal with it yourself. At that point your should also probably get on a housing list too. It sounds like you need your own space.

It's up to SSI, if I had my way I would not even be considering a payee, in my opinion that would just make things more complicated in some ways....but they are the ones who might decide I need one. I can fight it though, like i could get documentation from my psychiatrist and therapist saying I am able to manage my own funds and then they would re-assess and potentially decide I don't need one. Either way may have to deal with having one at least for a while. I'd certainly prefer someone I know to someone I don't know.
