My parents got married at ~19/20 years old with a kid on the way. That wasn't abnormal then. That's extremely rare today.
My old next door neighbour bought his first house when he was 22 - but could have afforded to when he was 19. He's owned several properties and is now a retired multi-millionaire at 53.
I'm 40. Many other people my age own homes, have partners etc. Sometimes people talk about their kids' success in buying a house (kind of a big deal these days when a house is a couple Million dollars) and blah blah blah if they can do it anyone can.. and I just bite my tongue and don't really say anything because these people don't have any concept of what life, work, finances, and relationships are like when you're on the spectrum.
Sometimes it sucks to think about the things I haven't achieved that are "normal," but whatever it is what it is and I've achieved other things and have different goals, so the feelings pass as I focus my thoughts on Me and My capabilities and not other peoples' nor their goals etc and life goes on.
Some young people have it all figured out (good for them!) and others just think they do. They have no idea what factors may have contributed to someone else not meeting the same milestones they did "on time." No sense in arguing with them, just carry on knowing that those young people don't know Why some/many older people haven't achieved certain things so their comments aren't really relevant and should be mostly ignored.
Although, they do have a point about some things.. soldiers were 20, industrialists were 25-30 etc - in general people live longer now And take more time to reach various milestones compared to a few generations ago. But, young people do have a point that young people ARE capable of things and Can do them vs. put them off or not do them at all.
