Yeah today was a 7 for me as well and that is a nice change.

I’d put it at below five right now, which is unusual for me. Part of it’s down to S.A.D. and the cold and damp doesn’t help, but mostly it’s because of all the generally pointless road blocks that I’ve been up against, none of which amount to more than bureaucratic bloody mindedness!

OK, one expects communication breakdowns, many of which are due to misuse of IT (they think they’ve figured out all the possible problems in advance, so everybody gets palmed off with a robot response (there should be regulation which requires access to a human when all else fails!) and normally I take it in my stride. But when every company I’ve had to deal with lately, has prevented any useful dialog, or else required me to go through hoops to satisfy a non issue (*) then I could do with a day off!

(*) My UK bank, whom I recently asked for a replacement for my lapsed bank card (to pay for a new copy of my birth certificate, the only thing I’ve needed to pay for in sterling for a decade) has used this as an excuse to freeze my account citing regulations designed to deal with money laundering!

Excuse me for being picky, but the lack of any recent transactions in my UK account is proof that no such laundering has taken place…
