I've been working at my job for a good few months, and I know everybody and everybody knows me.

However, there is a young man who works there who is very popular with everybody and he always goes out of his way to be polite and courteous to me, but I don't know his name.

What do I do?

Do I just casually ask him his name even though it's been all this time?

I feel a bit silly now because it's been so long.

I know everyone else's name.

I find that the best way to go about this is to just say what you've said here, in as light and breezy a manner as you can! :D The next time you have dealings with him, any kind of encounter at work, just something like: "You know, I feel so silly and I ought to have remembered it, but somehow I forgot your name and I'm embarrassed about that! My mind just does that sometimes, I'm so sorry!" You will probably both laugh and he'll say "That's okay! It's "___"! "

Stuff like this happens to a lot of folks, and it often goes well, and lightheartedly, when you just come right out with how weird you feel that the name slipped your mind and you didn't know how to fess up.

A neighbor I run into quite regularly had a moment like this with me the other day when we had a longer conversation than usual, and he just blurted right out, good naturedly, "Sorry I forgot your name again?" and I was totally fine with it.

Thanks BIF.

I feel even more silly now, because I did know his name but I was calling it to someone else.

I've been doing it for months and no one told me until today.
