Usually over a troll, sometimes over a perception that you aren't liked.

They are not sure if they want to leave or not.

I threaten to leave this place because there is a part of me that hates WP.

On the other hand, if you added up all the parts of me and all the things they hate, there'd be nothing left to like.

I left another aspergers forum over what I perceived to be hostility from other members.
I felt like I had made an ass of myself..and I was embarrased that I was so fixated on something I am not even diagnosed with...It took up a big chunk of my thinking for a while..unfortunately it is doing it again..but this is a much friendlier forum...In the other one there seemed to be some level of Asperger-snobbery...and I just made a fool of myself 'cause I couldn't stay away.

It depends on the situation really, but usually, it is for attention...sometimes it is to see how many people beg them to stay...sometimes, it is to stir trouble...it can even be used to bring up the reason they are considering leaving in hopes something is done about it...VERY occasionally, it is done simply to genuinely say goodbye before actually leaving...the honest way, in other words, lol.

Some people (I won't say who) are trying to get attention for all the wrong reasons. It's annoying to all of us posters and it's a very negative way to get attention. If people are going to post they're going to leave, then they should just leave instead of making continuous posts about it.

Yeah, gg's got an important point. If one of us feels left out, after once feeling part of things, it may be a good way to gauge whether or not anyone wants them to stay.
