There are three ways to do this.
I usually recommend the direct "Hammer" approach, personally. It seldom fails, and is always reversible.
The second technique, which I'm sure you are very familiar with, is the classic "No-man's Land Triad". Quite where the description originates, no one is sure. The disadvantages here are quite obvious, but there are also several points on which it could be regarded as superior. E.g. the closeness of the shave.
Finally, there the old chestnut: the "Pink" method. Altogether unsatisfactory, in my opinion, but of course, the only way to operate if it is raining.
