I love that energy it gives but once it wears off I am all tired again [even more tired than before having coffee].

MXH, have you ever had any other drugs have that kind of effect, opposite to what they are supposed to have? I ask because codeine makes me an insomniac, wired absolutely wired. My dad was the same way. Both of us seem to metabolize pain killers and anesthesia fast as well. It always takes much more to know me out and I wake up. Had an operation once and woke up in the middle of it swinging and fighting, took about 6-7 people to hold me down. VERY disturbing.

I metabolize drugs fast too. I always say that I have high tollerance for pain killers and a low tolerance for pain. I usually dont take pain meds for this reason, unless it is really unbearable. However with anesthesia I have woken up a few times in surgery...once in an eye surgery...eek. Although I never fully woke up I could see the surgions but was unable to speak or move...they some how realized I was awake soon and gave me anouther dose of anesthesia. I was put under during dental surgery, but I never did go completely out...I felt no pain, but I could feel the pressure of him removing my wisdom tooth, could hear his voice, but could not move nor speak.
However with coffee I have to be careful with it because for some reason it dehydrates me faster than most people and I end up with a slow pulse and low blood presure. I can get real sick with coffee.

However with alcohol..I have zero tollerance even a small amount can get me drunk. I have seizures and alcohol can cause me to have seizures in larger amounts...been there done that.

As far as medicines, I can metabolize them quickly I dont know why some drugs like alcohol and coffee have the reverse effects as some other drugs with me as far as metabolizing goes

My grandfather drinks coffee daily and when I was younger I would always wake up to the smell of fresh coffee, so I LOVE the smell. Taste...eh. Although I don't usually ever drink it, the last time I drank coffee was on finals day my senior year and afterwards I felt like CRAP. Before that, I hadn't drank any caffeine in two years. I still don't drink caffeine unless it's in tea so I guess you could say I drank caffeine =D

I've known people with this weird sort of reverse biology as they described it.

don't worry ,you're not the only one.I don't understand why people like drinking alcohol. if i go out with them(FRIENDS/FAMILY) and drink ,I'm just like : sober,sober,sober....yep ....SIGH...still sober...oh hey look at the time I best be going now...
drugs do not have an effect on me either...(I'm not a drug addict, I was ''spiked'')...

tea makes me sleepy...I like the taste of coffee but dont drink it often and when I do its not to get an energy boost :)

I like it, but I have to tread carefully with caffeine.

 I had that experience when I travelled to the Middle East, because there they do not drink 'coffee', there they drink a thick syrupy divine 'potion', boiled up three times with lots of sugar and green cardamom, which is served in minute little cups or glasses and then consumed by an unsuspecting foreigner like me. 8O , I thought my  would jump out of my mouth!

Ew... They don't serve that here. :P

It's funny, everywhere else it is called "turkish coffee", but it has lost its popularity in Turkey itself, which your answer to my post proves, :D.

Jojobean when you drink alcohol you instantly get a red flushed face and sweat? I ask becasue there is a genetic abnomality that effects the metabolism of alcohol in the liver that causes exactly the effect that you described. I's more common among asian, especially Japanese.

Caffeine used to make me sleepy. I don't drink coffee that often, but I drink too much diet soda for my own good. Also, I try to avoid any meds since they seem to have different effects on me than intended, and I think drugs are prescribed or recommended way too often and should be the last resort instead of being the first line of defense.

I metabolize alcohol and caffeine quite fast I think. I get high in no time when I have shots else I don't high. I also get sober in no time.

I am legitimately addicted to coffee. People say I should stop drinking due to my anxiety, but I actually get anxious if I don't drink it every morning.

Caffeine, specifically large amounts, can trigger headaches for me, and also makes my heart get funky. I've avoided coffee for awhile.

Previously I'd drink it when I needed to stay awake, and for a brief period I was drinking it in the mornings.

Still drink an obscene amount of tea though.

For a snobby point of view: I find most coffee these days is stale, over-roasted, and/or ground too finely. And I never understood all these loads of milk+sugar coffee drinks. And flavored coffee. How to sell low-quality coffee and charge more!
