"Drawyer" is only two syllables long so it doesn't really need a short form. Understandable.

Yes, that sort of thing usually works for 3 or 4 or more syllables.

Lots of two syllable long names have short forms though, like Joe, Pete, Mike, Drew/Andy etc.
