not quite a myth for most people [I am people like me are the exceptions :alien: ] - that a fart leaves the "fart eye" and travels down each pant leg, then it meets again at the ankles and says "good bye!"

If you drop an ice cream cone on the sidewalk, one day you will be torn apart by a pack of hyenas.

No, Napoleon was 5 feet 7 inches, once you translate his listed 5 feet 2 inches (French units) to the modern day equivalent. While 5 feet 7 inches might seem short by today's standards, it was actually above the average of Napoleon's time, which was 5 feet 4 inches.

(Yep, I just Googled that sh*t!)

Myth: People swallow 8 spiders a year in their sleep.

Those must be some seriously suicidal spiders if they would crawl into a predator's mouth.

The irony of this one is that it was made up in an article written about how gullible people believe everything they read on the internet. And it spread like wildfire. (I saw it on the discovery channel last week, and it pi$$ed me off that they were spreading this misinformation).
I managed to find the article once, after a lot of searching, but I didn't save it, unfortunately, and now it seems to have completely disappeared. If I ever find it again, I'll definitely save it.

The Corvair was 'unsafe at any speed.'

Actually the Chevy Corvair was reliable and not a bad Detroit made auto at all. Oh sure, they tended to toss the fan belt, but they weren't all that dangerous. The problem was that the engine was hung out back like a porsche, but much heavier as it was a six cylinder. In the rain, or on a slippery surface, an inexperienced driver could drift the rear end a little too far and lose control. They were re-engineered in 1965, but the reputation doomed them. Even today they haven't bounced back in value.

Porcupines can shoot their quills at people. Actually they can't, so you're safe from a distance but if you're up close trying to grab one then look out.

That if a devils darning needle spits in your eye you will go blind. Some people call them walking sticks or stick horses.
That bats will get tangled in human hair.
It's bad luck to burn dogwood in the fireplace.
That wounds won't heal, dogs go mad and the snakes bite during Dog days. There is some truth to this.

Vampires. It was scary at first, but the wierd factor comes in at the fact they have so many weaknesses. If vampires were real, I would feel sorry for them.
