English isn't my first language, I studied it at school but the course was very basic (and there wasn't much a plan of teaching, so many years we just see the same thing over and over again), anyway, I think I mostly learned it by having contact with the language thru internet... I can speak it, I'm doing it now :D (and I even lived one year abroad and survived with english) but I feel very stupid while talking/writing in english, I feel I can't develop complex thoughts or even if I do my grammar is very poor so I would sound stupid anyway.

People who has english as second language, do you experience the same? How to overcome this?

English is my second language. I can listen and read english fluently. However, I'm really embarassed about my english speaking skill. If English, Canandian, or US tourists ask me a question on the street for example, I'm ashamed about my speaking and pronunciation, I really sound like a beginner. Having said this, I do think that I can improve this skill when I would spend long periods of time in England/US, or eg when I would have an English speaking girl friend.

I'm not much ashamed by my accent (although I have hard time pronouncing R), it's more my general grammar/structure skills, it's seem easier to fix than accent because you can do it on your own, no need to practice with others but I feel very stuck with this

I don't feel stupid when I write in English, but sometimes I do when I speak English.

May I ask you what your first language is (if it's not too private)?
