What is the weirdest thing to have woken you up ?

Today, I was asleep when suddenly I heard this loud 'Wake up!' in a male voice, but no-one is around as I am in an apt and no one else was in the building. It sure worked though as it did wake me up. Very odd.

Also, once I woke to see my landlord's wife standing in my doorway as the silly cow had unlocked my door and just walked in when I lived in a shared house.

I remember waking up to the sound of my brother's voice even though he wasn't talking to me.

I occasionally wake up and then say something nonsensical before I realize I'm not dreaming anymore.

Once, I pointed and said "yeah, it's right over there"

The weirdest “wake up” that I’ve experienced was too scary for me to write publicly. I don’t want anyone to use it on me ever again.

Grael, almost the same thing happened to me. I'm not sure if I dreamt it or if it was in my apartment building.

I've woken myself up by screaming (sleep paralysis.)

Birds chirping outside of my windowh as woken me up a few times. I wanted to go back to bed but they were too noisy.

That's why I put in earplugs when I go to bed. My favorite are brand: Flents, model:Quiet Time.

flism,

I've tried the foam earplugs before. When I tried to do an at-home silent retreat (terrible idea in a noisy building. After four days of my neighbor's music I went to the CVS down the street and almost went into hysterics as the rush-hour T poured an endless wave of people onto the sidewalk) I got some. But I didn't like the way they felt in my ears. I tried sleeping with them but I move around a bit, and being on my side they felt even worse.

I use wax ones. Very effective and once warmed in the hand, you can push them down so there aren't any bits protruding. Used them for years now and I always sleep on my side.

Thanks Grael. I'll look into those. It's the protruding bit that seem to cause the most problems.

Everything “extra” takes getting use to. In the past, my choice was to either try to fall asleep with loud snoring eminating from multiple people, when getting the proper amount of sleep was crucial, or cut out the noise, get use to the foam in my ear, and get enough sleep. One thing you could try, to keep your face pointed up, is a big puffy pillow. And if you are like me, with so much crap on your bed that you have no room to move around on it, you’ll stay in that position the whole night. :)

One of my cats, Peter, peed on me. Another one of my cats, Prince, chewed on my hair.
