Thanks so much for posting that. What a gorgeous puppy - I'm so glad they were able to save her.

I wish they'd been able to find the lowlife who hurt her, though.

I agree...and then ripped their leg off without anesthesia.

I found this story over at a pit bull site. According to that, the pup had been severely abused and kicked when she was only a few weeks old then dumped in a shelter. Her leg was so badly broken that it couldn't be saved. Whoever did that to her belongs in hell.
I have a pit bull that looks a lot like Hazel but she was full grown when I got her three years ago. I got her from a shelter and she showed definite signs of mental and physical abuse. Her vet noticed this about her, too. That's why she has arthritis and psychological issues. She's taking a nap on a rug right next to me as I write this. It’s very unfortunate for any dog to end up in a shelter and a high percentage of those dogs are pit bulls. They are a very misunderstood breed. I’ve pretty much vowed to make any additional dogs I ever have to be rescued pits.

I adopted my dog Ranger (on the left in my avatar) from a former coworker who was going to send him to a shelter. They had gotten him from a shelter and I'm glad that I was able to save him from having to go back. I adopted my dog Emma (on the right, a Lab/Pitbull mix) from a friend's sister who was going to send her to a shelter.

I'm happy to have rescued both of my dogs, and any other dogs I get in my lifetime will be rescued. Unless more dogs fall in our laps like these two did, we're always going to go to a shelter and choose dogs that are least likely to get adopted. No puppies, no popular purebreds, and we'd definitely go for Pits.
