don't you wish that you could simply say what you mean to say without your words being rejected in some manner? it drives me crazy sometimes (ok, not really but it's still irritating) because it's as though i can't be fully accepted without manipulation. it really makes communication seem hollow.

sometimes people respond better if you say exactly what you mean.
they get shocked you don't dress it up and respond differently.

Absolutely!
I tend to get supicious of people who exaggerate their stories for effect and it makes me angry (probably too strong a word!), that
their stories are accepted because they add bits which might only have a grain of truth to it just to make things more colourful.
They are often the people who succeed socially. I'm not jealous of them (it's not something I can do), I just wish they'd stick to the facts, however boring it might be otherwise!

The worst is when someone repeats your story as if it were their own with their own twist; they get the audience and get the laughs; just feels like a punch to the guts..........I suppose there's an element of the green eyed monster lurking there!

It's definitely something I need to start to accept and get to grips with, without letting it influence my opinion on people. They're only trying to make things more interesting; but in my eyes they are lies....

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

I'm fairly direct & say what I mean & mean what I say but I sometimes have to give explanations as to why I said what I said the way I did because people misunderstood or thought I was rude or something & then they get annoyed & tell me to shut-up because I'm rambling when I explain my rezoning to em

Yea, I TOTALLY understand.

I think it is because of the air of political correctness that people feel the need to "cushion" their words.

Case in point:
For cross-country( xc), we pay 200 dollars for ECA (donations to the sport).
Late year, we got a jacket, pants, bag, and beanie.
This year, we had received a sweatshirt, backpack, hat, and I thought we were supposed to get sweatpants.
That's not a horrible assumption...right?
So, I go to my coaches door (and it makes it extra awkward because he is not my coach anymore) and ask for the sweatpants.
I say "When are we getting our sweatpants?" I wasn't trying to be rude, or greedy, or anything, I was just doing the math.
I talk to my mom about it, and she said that I should have said "Last year we got pants with our ECA payments, are we receiving those this year or not?".
As you can see, it is twice the words, and I just didn't think that way.

So I totally understand what you mean with that.

Yes...really depends on the rejection method or reason....but for the most part "getting to the point" shouldnt have to be that difficult. does it need to be a gradual build up finally culminating with..."getting to the facts"

If I'm talking with you,...its for a reason,....and this is it,,"....." No I dont ask how they are because I know they dont care how I am. It seems to me that na's insist on using ,fake gestures, untrue caring coments and missleading, manipulation all in an effort to get their way.

"Hollow" is an understatrnent !
