A slightly weird question
No, I find it interesting. I find it particularly interesting how lives converge at some point and I'm frequently curious how many other times, if any, my path and the path of another individual may have crossed. I wonder how different my relationship with someone might be if I happened to meet them at a different time under a different situation. To think, if person A met person B at one time under one situation, perhaps they would be enemies. If they met at another time under another situation, perhaps they would be lovers.
quick question off the subject. i'm quite new at writting on a BB and i still can't figure out how to put someone else's post in mine so i can respond. is it just copy and past? Please help.

lol, i don't know if i can even blame AS for that one, it's right in front of me.
Thank You
i feel a "variation" of this feeling, often when watching urban crowds (sitting in an airport or train or bus station or just on a piazza). all these people lead lives separate from mine, hurrying home to their families or work places, having goals, worries, hobbies, responsibilities that i will never know of, unless either chance or a common interest brings us into contact.
i sometimes become completely absorbed in this musing and "invent" lives for people that i only saw for a split second dashing past me, sounds nuts, i know.
once i am absorbed into this thinking i feel like i am floating and everything and everybody becomes insignificant and all-important at the same time, meaning our average life span nowadays and in the western world stretches to about 70 years and this is nothing compared to evolution, yet so much has been changed and created and destroyed by these minute specks in time, because they are in "possession" of two things - consciousness and language (which are probably interlinked anyway ).
I also feel this way but it is with regards to the people I already know. I wonder what they are doing at this moment and I have been doubting that they are existing without me. I have been thinking about this for some time. I have schizop[hrenia though so that is the explanation that my pdoc has given me.....that I am psychotic. It gets annoying especially when it pertains to someone you have feelings for. I wonder if they even exist and I can't wrap my mind around the fact that I am insignificant in their life. ![]()
could it be attributed to the self-absorbed nature of a person with AS? all external things are part of/a projection of the self rather than separate entities. evidence that a new self-projection once existed externally seems disturbingly... odd. this is just a wild guess though. one characteristic of an infant is exactly this: everything comes back to the self and the line between internal and external reality is not clear/doesn't exist until learned. could also have something to do with our resistance to change.

Don't worry I was thinking the same thing but I kinda thought the 'quote' was how it was done. Now I know.
Also, this is such an interesting topic. I really felt that way in the last relationship I was in, which was the only girlfriend I've had in about 10 years. I kept thinking about her life before we met and how we had both walked the earth for so long and never met. As I learned more about her the feeling seemed to increased.
Yes, that's exactly how I feel. It's so disconcerting to think that other people have been living their lives while I've been living mine, and we've been totally unaware of each other. It's also weird to be reminded that people I know have separate lives. Like, I have no idea what most of the people I know are doing right now. Realizing this sort of thing reminds me that life isn't like a movie, with a protagonist and a plot. It's just a bunch of individuals who are the protagonists of their own lives, which happen to overlap sometimes. It makes my head spin.

Is it possible that you lived in a small town for a good part of your life where everyone knows everyone and their cousin?
