yes, i've been told this too.

Do you feel you lurch in any way?

I don't at all.

I think I am pretty fluid in my movements.

Hmmm, I think I probably do, but I'm not really sure how to walk any other way so I don't think about it too much.

For what it's worth, there's research that says, yes, we do tend to make a bad first impression and it is based on visual and auditory cues, not on the things we actually say.

abnormally curved spine and one leg longer than the other, so i do a combo hop n' lurch movement, rather odd-looking.

i no longer care much if people don't like me, just as long as they behave themselves.

Nobody today says I look weird. I do, however, look stiff in photographs of myself. I don't like how I look in pictures.

I think the thing about me that people find off-putting is that I tend to be aloof. I wouldn't say it has as much to do with my physical appearance, but more with my mannerisms.

I mostly resemble a late middle-aged and hunchbacked Bavarian gnome, or maybe Gargamel on a good day (see image below).

And yet, I'm married; which only goes to show that looks don't count for everything.

I used to think people gave me negative reactions because i am very big guy and thought that they might have been slightly intimidated. But it seems its probably more to do with my less than sunny facial expressions, maladroitness and general self conciousness now that i have a diagnosis. The good thing is i can work on that, for better outcomes with new people. Also knowing when people just have an instinctual distrust of you and that one cant control that. Best not to waste time trying to change it, concentrate on those who will give me a chance.

I feel it but it's because I'm currently at school, I have a very heavy bag (because if I remove anything i will lose it because my dyspraxia) and so it's how I keep balance (which again is hard bc of dyspraxia). The habit just stayed so now even without it I still move in the same way. My knees also turn inwards, putting my feet at a weird angle as well. In general my movements are a bit clunky though and I even fall over when standing still much to others amusement.

I would like to hold that wisdom in mind. I may have to print that and post it up on my wall.
