That was my main concern before I took the semester off. The dean told me I could always say I had a surgery.
The person who interviewed me for my current job asked me why I had taken a semester off. I told her that I took a medical leave of absence and luckily she did not inquire further.
They say that your transcript only matters for your first job out of college, anyway.
