I completely believe i have Aspergers from reading tons of information recently about it. Although im undiagnosed im not sure if theres any reason to get diagnosed. Ive known there was something wrong for a long time and just finally have narrowed it down after pretty much being an encyclopedia of psychology information now haha. Just telling a little about myself and any advice is appreciated :)

So since i was in high school i started to really notice how different and disconnected i was from everyone including my friends. I have a few close friends that ive known since i was a child but when im out at a social gathering and people are talking it up and making new friends all im thinking about is going home and being in the peace and quiet, or how much i just want this guy to shut up because im not interested in anything hes saying. I never can seem to befriend people i feel like my speech is always very professional and to the point i find it hard to joke around with people and im always the last one to understand a joke if i even get it at all. I'm always just the acquaintance that people say hey whats up to but there's just no connection or friendship formed. I tend to offend people without noticing like calling a child "it" instead of him or her.. or making a bad joke that obv. isnt funny to anyone but me. I also avoid eye contact. I've been learning that eye contact is needed especially at work so ive been getting better to tell myself to do it when im talking with someone. I feel like i can look people in the eye for to long now where it gets awkward.

At work im always the quiet one and even through i really want to talk to people and be "in the group" i just never know anything to say to people, or most of it comes out not how i mean for it to. People always tell me they cant tell if im joking or being serious. Im not into sports or politics or anything that everyone seems to talk about. Its boring to me and i dont understand what makes people so interested in it. I'm terrible at reading people. I guess i was oblivious to that until about a year ago i started noticing that i wasn't noticing anything lol. If you were to ask me what type of person someone was i literally had no idea and people thought that was weird. My friend was telling me how our boss was a passive aggressive and how to deal with him.. I didn't even know what passive aggressive meant until my friend explained it to me. When i talk to people i notice that if its something im interested in i probably am boring them to death with my rants but i don't notice there getting bored or uninterested at all.

I have a select few interests and i could go on for hours about them. When i find a new interested you can bet ill be on the computer for hours learning every little detail about it. For example ill get into a tv show, watch every episode of it then ill start reading interviews with the cast and learning about all the main characters, who they are in real life, maybe even watch another films they have been in. Or I have an interest in mycology and i would read and read about it. A few weeks later id be able to go outside and point out a mushroom and tell my friend what it was, the scientific name for it, how to tell that it was that mushroom etc. I have a folder on my computer with picture of mushrooms ive found and there all labeled by species and genus. I find that if i want to learn something i might as well learn everything about it. Its just what makes sense to me.. why only learn a little when you can learn it all?

I tend to take everything pretty literally. If someone says yo come over tonight for a party im having ill ask what time is it starting? and if they say 10 pm youll bet im there right at 10 pm before anyone else is even there. That can also relate to me not understand people hinting things to me in conversation, that goes completely over my head. I have been used plenty of times by people who were supposedly my "friends" when really they just saw me as someone who they could take advantage of easily and yet i still fall for it every time. I really dont ever lie, people say im a very honest and caring person i just cant show emotions very well or connect and understand someone elses feelings. I remember my dad bought me a dirt bike when i was about 13 and i was so excited but i couldnt show it and he took it as i was uninterested and he got very upset.

I also have quite a few ADD traits which is what i thought was it at first but ive realized its common for ASD people to have ADD/ADHD Traits. One of my biggest problems is listening comprehension. I'm a visual learner and everything i think about in pictures. When im trying to listen to someone and theres background noise its almost impossible to comprehend what there saying. I notice myself saying what? to almost everything people say and then right as they start to say it again it clicks and i understand what they said. This also makes me terrible to talk to on the phone. I also have to watch TV is silence or i cant hear what there saying. I actually got a hearing test in elementary school because they thought i had a hearing problem but everything came back that i was perfectly fine. I also have rocked back and forth in a car ever since i was a kid although i can control it mostly now a days. I also make random noises sometimes while im walking around my house and my parents say i used to stand in my crib and just bang against the wall. I'm TERRIBLE at multi tasking. Its like i get information overload and just shut down.

I'm sure i could keep going on and on about stuff but I'm not trying to write a book.. at least not yet haha. Anyways for the people that read this i really appreciate it.

I read this so you know.
I actually like mushrooms too, but I haven't read about them yet.
I mostly relate to your second paragraph. I've always felt this distance between myself and other people.
If you want to talk about it, you can PM me.

So, yeah...you pretty much summed up my life there too! The bit about not being able to describe someone made me chuckle - a while ago I was asked to describe what my boss looked like so they could figure out if they knew him. I paused for way too long and eventually mumbled that I didn't know and he just looked 'regular'. I just couldn't figure out how to describe his appearence.

I can explain string theory but not someone's appearence! Lol.

Primall....

You pretty much described me, exactly.....Including mycology  ! One of my favorite things about the rainy season (besides the weather, which is another one of my subjects of interest) is taking a walk with my dog through the woods or local parks and finding, identifying, & photographing mushrooms. Sometimes I'll take a few to eat as a side with dinner if they're edible, such as Blewits (Lepista personata). And when I'm in the right habitat during the right time of the year my eyes are always looking about for Psilocybe cyanescens :) .

But anyway, what you said in your post does indeed reflect my self, every aspect of it.
