erm, so I was really hyperactive earlier for no reason, then a little argument about what was going to be watched on TV and my mood switched from hyper to really slow mentally I could not think properly like being under a big fog, then I cried a bit after leaving the room and now I am confused and low and also really restless and a bit paranoid about what my parents are thinking about me so I don't think I am going to be able to sleep.

I have no idea why I suddenly went from really happy to where I am now, my thoughts are going fast and I can't think properly . Anyone got any advice on how to get rid of the restlessness so I can sleep?

Do you suspect you may be bipolar? Otherwise the mood swings are a bit ... odd.

I get what you are saying. The same thing happens to me from time to time, except my sadness is normally triggered by music, lighting, or pictures. The best way to help with the restlessness is to avoid mental stimulation an hour before bed.

I have thought about it, I really hope not, I think when mood swings happen in my case its triggered by a bigger unhappiness in my life, I rarely am able to connect the mood swings to what's bothering me but its usually something

Something obviously triggered this. The possibilities are:

- Drugs
- Bi-polar incident
- Other mental health incident (I'm not an authority on mental health, so can't get any more specific than that)
- Environmental trigger--like what Sherlock03 said.
- Reaction to food or chemicals (suggest stay away from caffeine and sugar close to bedtime)

Were you exposed to any chemicals just before things got weird? I am not referring just to things like household cleaners. Perfumes, scented deodorants, soaps, laundry products and other things around the house can cause problems. Also flea and tick products, and other pesticides. I think you really should find out what triggered this episode. Then you would be better able to avoid them.

I was not exposed to anything as far as I know, no pesticides or anything, I don't take any medication, the only thing that I think triggered it is that I got into a small argument with my dad, but it really was minor so I don't know why it would have caused what it did. I agree I would like to know why it happened its not a nice experience
