While I think your story has the strength to stand alone, there's no reason why you couldn't experiment with expanding the story.

Hmm I was thinking so as well. I just really think that ending is almost too perfect to move on from. It really brings the reader in and makes them realize Hank is going to kill this girl and she is clueless because she's just relieved to be alive.
