Thanks for the suggestion, but it kind of highlights the problem of being defined but what you don't believe in: I am actually pretty indifferent to a person's beliefs (or lack thereof) - so I really don't feel the need to restrict myself to secular/agnostic people. I like kind, thoughtful and interesting people regardless of their particular opinions on religion.

As someone already mentioned the too atheist was probably a remark regarding a discusion he has been having with a certain member on a thread about religion and dating

Sorry I only read the OPs original post I haven't looked through every post in this thread.

Its not even on this thread but most active members here keep an eye on most threads(for instance there are several reference to charlie sheen´s interview because OP started a thread asking if he looked like him ).

I didn't - just in case...

I was one of several people from the other thread and my comments were taken completely out of context by another member. No one is "too atheist". They are free to be who they are. I had stated it would be hard for me to date an atheist because I didn't think that one could respect that I did believe in something. There would likely be compatibility issues. No personal harm meant toward any atheists.

I think you are doing the right thing.

A couple years ago a few awkward experiences made me consider taking a break from the dating scene.

At that time I started talking to a very friendly girl that I shared some interests with but as I wasnt looking for a relationship I never called her.

A month after I got her number I considered calling her but I realized it was too late since she had moved to another city to go to university.

Hope you have some luck at okcupid and if you dont enjoy your break from the dating scene(they dont usually last long).

I have never used OKC other than giving feedback for members here. When I truly believed in dating a few years ago, I used another site. That account is long canceled. :D

I didnt fully read the religion and dating thread since I have very little interest in religion/personal beliefs.

My guess is that you didnt fully read this thread either since the previous poster I mentioned gives a name(just in case you dont want to search over this thread we werent talking about you)

You are probably right with the whole taking comments out of context since Ive seen that around here quite frequently.

Im unable to understand why would too thin be an issue.

I saw the replies when you asked about that, it just doesnt make sense to me.

I also fall under the too thin cattegory(though Im trying to change that by going to the gym)

There must be some exceptions because I have gone out with females that weighed significanttly more than me on a few occasions

Granted, I've only seen your avatar, but I think "too thin" can be challenged too.

Actually there were a few responses on a thread recently that mentioned being too thin as a dating dealbreaker, even more so thatn being overweight (obviously this mostly applies to guys).

I have done everything possible to mitigate (my house looks like Gold's Gym), but there's a limit to what can be done. My legs in particular are borderline grotesque even though they are actually quite strong now.

People are not obligated to give you a reason for rejecting you, in my case I think it's often my weight.

I think we like to think its our looks which gets us rejected but I expect most times its our aspieness.

Yeah, you're right.

But this thread is about being single and happy, so it doesn't even matter!

Let me get this straight because I think I may have misread. You were going on 10 hour plane trips simply to meet up with people from the dating site? 8O

I think too that it's our aspie traits more than any other personal traits that cause us to struggle. I've been currently dating someone a few months and during that time I've been so neurotic about the whole thing I've dragged him through hell and back... several times. Fortunately for me he's extremely resilient. I wish there was more research out there about adult aspies and the dating process because it's hard to solve problems you simply don't understand.

To me, I think another problem you seem to be encountering (unless I'm mistaken) is the problem of compatibility. You're unusual, and this makes you incompatible with the majority of people (like attract like). I've found myself than often I only ever meet someone I feel romantic attraction to once every 2 years or so, and I meet a lot of people!

I think the best and only way to continue really is to soldier on with your life, enjoy the non-romantic aspects of your life (as you seem to be doing!), while keeping your mind open to the possibility of romance if the right person comes along. I think in all honesty you're most likely to meet a compatible match which you're living your normal lifestyle, as the other person would then have similar interests and ideologies. I think meeting people via a dating site, although it may speed up the waiting process, is harder in this sense because you're searching from a pool of mostly incompatible people.
