Looks like the opposite to me. You started a relationship with the wrong person, and you weren't bad at keeping it up. But you didn't really want it.
Or do I misunderstand?
I've been through this once. I started a relationship with a girl who showed interest in me on a dating site. She really seemed to like me, and even though I didn't find her physically attractive (I did like her personality, though), I started dating her anyway because I didn't feel like anyone else would want me. Long story short, it turned into a relationship that lasted a couple of months. (I ended up breaking up with her when she did something I couldn't forgive; it's a long story, and it didn't involve cheating.) All in all, it felt like a better alternative than being alone. With that said, I treated her very well, did whatever a good boyfriend should do, and had no intention of breaking up with her if someone "better" came along.
