It's a small college, about 1300 people. I don't advertise the fact that I'm on the team, but, people automatically know because I sometimes have to get an excused absence for a road game. I think it would be easier if I had a way to hide the fact that I'm on the team but I'm not going to leave the team just because of this. I like playing, the coach would be really pissed at me if I quit, and after their response I hate them too. The others on the team are probably just a bunch of stool pushers who wish I was gay like them so they could hit on me (ever been in a men's locker room, pretty gay place). The infuriating thing about it is that I bet that some of the nerds who are judging me on my appearance may be the only other aspies at the damn school, reducing my chances of making any friends there, ever. If it keeps like this it'll be a long 3 and a half years to go.
A lot of us here, myself included, can relate- getting shut out of a group you really want to be a part of. There's no easy answer. Try to do what makes you happy. If you love basketball keep playing and to hell with what your teamates and the 'nerd' croud think. But if it's making you miserable then quit and get on with your life. Just accept yourself for who you are and try to be happy. Eventually a few people will see past the appearence and become your friends. All you really need is one or maybe two.
