Any parent with the «I am always right no matter what you say» attitude who always insists on starting or forcing or perpetuating arguments seems to me like someone who needs to be cut off immediately! When someone only wants to spend all their damn trying to argue against you at any time you are in communication then, as far as I'm concerned, it's time for me to pack up my bags and cut them out of my life, completely. Ignorance is annoying.

Not that I disagree, but it's not always so simple. What if, despite being an adult, someone is unable to work for one reason or another and has to live with their parents/depend on them financially some other way? Or if the person has some serious illness and needs someone who knows how to handle it around?

Of course, if there are no such problems or the person has someone else who can support them with those, then there's no problem cutting the ties.

Agreed.
