Do you ever close your eyes to avoid looking at people?

When I'm at school, I sometimes find myself staring at people for a few seconds when they're not looking in my direction. Not because I'm attracted to them, but because I just like having something to look at, I suppose. But I know that staring at people is considered rude/creepy, so I often keep my eyes closed for a bit as a way to not bother anyone. It always makes me feel a little safer.
