Location: Middle Earth. Er, I mean Wellywood. Wait, Wellington.
I love making everybody laugh, it makes me feel good about myself.
To a 'gangta' I'd say "If you're so smart, how come you can't keep your pants from falling down by buttoning up your fly?"

But then I found
That I could speak to her,
In a way
And sadness turned to comfort
We all go there
My place of employment has taken some political heat lately - think along the lines of lobbyists having an ax to grind with the company. Yesterday, during a meeting about how to handle the situation, I made a comment about having "the best government money can buy". My supervisor is still laughing a day later. ![]()
To be honest, all the kids that I go to school with are total aholes. THey are bigoted, obnoxious, etc., etc, you know the rest.

It's interesting...was having a conversation with someone about battles both in real life but in particular on forums.
Fighting is not a BAD thing. It's another game you need to know the rules of to play well.
You see lots of mad 19-page b!tchrant e-wars going on with forums everywhere. Even here (what am I saying, I've been in several here
).
But you know the strange thing? You'd think that stupid arguments, even huge ones, would create enemies.
They don't, unless you let them.
In fact, on forums in particular, it has the opposite effect. Have a major incident, 10 pages of screaming, ranting and generally putting forth a bloody good point later, the fight ends when a mod finally closes the topic. Cue a week or two of silence from the participants. Then, life goes on as normal.
Except you notice...suddenly, more people than before know you. They know the raw, unadulterated you. They see you standing up for what you believe in, and doing a jolly good job. You've earned respect in the eyes of many people.
If you can get through a fight without freaking out, without using profanity or insults, without leaving or making threats...you've won. Not proving who's right/wrong or who's better/lesser...you survived. And often times, so has your opponent.
Often, having a scrap with someone will have them remember you in a POSITIVE light...will leave them with respect for you.
People were a**holes to me back in school...I was the geeky fat asian, the girl in the library armed with a sketching pad at all times. They were HORRIBLE to me, so yes, I know what jerks in school are like. Battles, insults, explosions, tears, mental breakdowns...yup.
Cue school reunion.
Instead of being picked on, the older and more mature people I once knew as school bullies were reacting with 'Hey I remember you, you used to draw all those cool drawings...man, you've lost weight...'
And from the idiots that had a go at me frequently through uni...
'Holy s**t, you've got a WRX now?!'
Remember, it's all words. Hot and spicy words like tobasco sauce, but you CAN'T let them hurt you. Unless someone's sayin' 'em with their teeth dug into your flesh, they're not physically wounding you...don't let 'em mentally wound you
My man and I were the same back in school...picked on, thin-skinned and saw many a crying fit. Nowadays? Well, we both learned the hard way that the saying 'sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me' is true. Suddenly, it just...stopped hurting. There are only two possibilities in regards to an insult...
a) They're TRYING to hurt you...either because they themselves are hurt or insecure, or because they're vindictive bastards. With the former, you hold power. With the latter, they're not worth your time. They're TRYING to hurt you. Don't let them, they're just being stupid.
b) It's bloody true, and it hurts because of it. People calling me 'Fat Quack' (yes my last name is pronounced 'quack'
) amongst many other insults...finally realised at the end of it that yes, I did come across as arrogant. Yes, I was fat. Yes, I was obsessive. So you know what? I stopped seeming so stuck-up. I trimmed off a few pounds. I quit talking about only things that interested me 24-7. Teasing? Well, there was nothing left to tease there. Problem solved.
Rising above the bait...earns you respect points.
Survive the battles with your integrity in place. Don't look small, don't let them get to you. They'll either get bored of it, or realise you're the bigger person there.
And bloody good on you for getting this far so well. ![]()
