I’m about half way through, “The Jigsaw Man” by Paul Britton.

A non fiction but very readable all the same, the best I’ve come across in more than a decade, about his experience as the UK’s leading criminal psychologist, involving such cases as the Jamie Bulger murder.

How strange though, that someone of his qualifications was of the opinion that psychopaths were incapable of identifying with the emotions of their victims! Experiencing such feed-back (albeit in perverted form) is exactly why they like torturing others!

Stella Maris, by Cormac McCarthy.

One of my Christmas presents. Companion to McCarthy's book, The Passenger, told from the perspective of a brilliant but paranoid schizophrenic woman and her psychiatrist before her suicide.
So far a very good read. Last book written by McCarthy.

Agatha Raisin and the quiche of death! Very funny, and a top rank whodunnit!

We Did Ok, Kid by Anthony Hopkins. I really enjoy it. It's a well written and interesting view into his inner life. Lately he's made some vague and confusing remarks about his diagnosis. But his childhood story is pretty much a text book description of growing up being autistic.

“Little Brother”, a modern “1984” about a young hacker finding himself at odds with the all powerful (and abusive) Department of Homeland Security.

It’s chock full of info on cryptology (albeit a decade behind the times; much of it is still relevant) and very well written; a real page turner. The sequel, Homeland, is shaping up similarly, and I suspect the author, Cory Doctorow, is smarter than me.

It’s particularly relevant to my case as I’m currently denied access to my sterling bank account, reportedly due to years of inactivity (no mystery; I live in a € economy, and until recently had no need nor desire to purchase anything in £.) recently ended by a need to purchase a copy of my Birth Certificate. The legislation of which I’ve fallen foul is (something like) The Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act.

Well excuse me, but doesn’t the lack of activity provide clear and evident proof that my account has not been involved in either of these activities? Big brother is never far away, so be afraid!

Be very afraid!

Haunted, by Chuck Palahniuk.

A group of writers are tricked into captivity, and are forced to produce an anthology of short stories and poetry.
As always, Palahniuk's humor is sharp and hideous!

The Enchanters, by James Ellroy.

Valentines Day present. Real life scumbag private detective, fixer, and muscle, Freddy Otash, gets involved in the death of Marylin Munroe.
So far a good read.

I just started Foundation by Isaac Asimov. A good read so far. Then again, I've enjoyed just about everything he's written.
