A really good quote from a Charles de Lint book...

I found a little quote in Dreams Underfoot that is really befitting to what we want to say to Autism Speaks. It's in the story, Paperjack, and a homeless man, named Paperjack, says to the narrator of the story:

"Just because a man has nothing he wishes to articulate, we consider him mute,"

which is a great quote showing how people would misdiagnose and ridicule just because they do not want to speak at a certain point.

Here is a good paraphrase of this:

"Just because a man or woman has nothing they wish to articulate at this point, we consider them autistic."

Oh, and by we, he means society.
