I have to say, I feel very ashamed to be an American these days, due to what I see as unwarranted slaughter in the mideast. :( I don't pretend to know a lot about politics, but this is breaking my heart and makes me ashamed to be a citizen of this country. I am a pacifist, so maybe I just can't see it differently. I don't believe in fighting fire with fire. Of course I would defend myself and my kids if there were a killer at my door, but I don't believe that military intervention was the only or most effective method to deal with the Islamic extremism that despises this country. In fact, I think we've made it worse!

I think,
that we should go rescue people to rescue people regardless-no strings attached. There is quite the waiting list of downtrodden communities. Why don't we go help them too. With all the proceeds from the oil-we should be able to dig out those one people.....what is the name of that place.

I'm not fond of how the current American government works. I don't understand the point in starting wars or being the world police, but yet, they cannot help its own citizens.

Indifferent. As bad as the American government is becoming and as bad as American pop culture currently is, I really can't say that any other country's any better.

Bush is already the Supreme Nazi Dictator of the Fourth Reich Anti-Christ ret*d Monkey Who Hates Black People according to the malcontented among us. Somehow I don't think he could get away with even the most charitable of actions without someone jumping all over him about it.

As far as Iraq is concerned, I'm not even going to bother. It's pretty obvious at this point people are going to think what they want to think, regardless of anything that is said/done.

I feel lucky to be an American-there are far worse places to live (I actually live in Canada now, but I'm still a citizen of the U.S and I grew up there); I'm proud of being part of the oldest and longest running modern democracy. America has done (and continues to do) some terrible things, but other nations and leaders have done far worse-for instance, brutal dictators like Pol Pot, Stalin, and Mao who were responsible for the deaths of millions of people. Or corrupt and brutal dicators in African and Latin American countries in the '70's and '80's who where also responsible for the widespread murder of their people. I do not understand all the hatred being directed at America and its government right now in light of all the other atrocities going on in the world. If we directed half the passion and anger that's being directed at America to, say, Sudan, we might actually be able to do something about the genocide in Darfur (I should note the U.S has done more to help than any other country).

This because Bush is a scuzz who sold his soul for power. That's allright because that true of EVERY OTHER POLITICIAN IN WASHINGTON. That's right- all of them. Democratic, republican, independant whatever, it dosen't matter what they call themselves because they're all on the same side- their own. I am proud to be an American, and I don't feel guilty about what the government does. Why should I? It's not my government, I don't support it in any way that isn't elicited from me by coercion. I beleve this country has a strong base, Its people, Its spirit, Its Constitution. Unfortunately that base has had a great deal of crap piled on it over the years but its still there, still strong, and someday we'll realise, as a people, that we've relinquished our power to those unworthy of it- and we'll take it back. [/ENDRANT]

I feel slightly ashamed, mostly because I have some friends in the military who have had to serve in Iraq. I don't really feel that much of an attachment of my country.

And save EVERY SINGLE NATIVE ON THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA from AIDS & HIV?? I think NOT! ! That would put the U.S. 5 million dollars more in debt!! Besides, teach them to have "safe sex" and they might be better off!! I would NEVER support paying for "this mission" through taxes! However, if you are SO in desire (in all due respect) why not donate some of your OWN money to the charity of YOUR CHOICE!

Not as a trap or trick question: Should, say, the people of France be ashamed of France for their constant incursions the Francophone Africa without bothering to inform the United Nations well after begun their assault? And this merely to assure their own puppet governments are properly installed? Should they be concerned about the lack of interest from most of their press about such activities (a press which is more heavily regulated, and more government owned then the United States)? Should they be ashamed about the massive power the French president has (the French presidency has been compared to a monarchy and is much more powerful then the executive branch of the United States of America)? Should their own high government officials being bribed by Saddam Hussein (perhaps partially leading to the deaths of untold amounts of people, possibly even more then have died since the invasion of Iraq) make them ashamed of France?

I could mention other countries (Russia, China are even more obnoxious examples), but I will focus in on supernationalist France.
