Today I went shopping in a local supermarket. As I strolled with my shopping cart near the meats,
this very nervous man (about 60) years old approaches me and asks, "Can you tell me where the chicken is?" His voice seemed almost animated.
It was right in front of him and I politely told him, "It's right in front of you, hon." Then he moved away very quickly and mumbled, "you wouldn't call me that if you knew what I just did."
THIS REALLY CREEPED ME OUT. 8O
what da'????? I'm used to calling elder people "hon". I've heard that used my entire life. Is there something wrong with this? It looked as though this man was trying to hide, as if he were being watched and pursued by someone else and needed to buy some time or create a distraction. It just was SO weird. He didn't even get any chicken. My stomach still feels queasy - something wasn't right!
Anyone? :?

I bet he was shoplifting.

Or maybe he grabbed your butt without you knowing it.

I would go with the shoplifting, though. He seemed to be trying to create a distraction.

Yes, sounds like shoplifting. But saying something weird like that only makes him look more suspicious.

If you'd used that term in the UK, I don't think anyone would've known what you meant.

I'd probably have taken it to be a reference to Germanic ancestry!

Which Germanic term?

On a side note: I hope the old guy didn't masturbate.

LOL.....Now I get it.

"Hun" is a Southern/Middle Atlantic US shortening of "honey," meaning "dear," "darling, "baby,", "snookums," etc.

It's used as a generalized term of endearment, rather than something meant to indicate romantic interest

I dread to think how the old weirdo would've reacted to that!

Sounds like he just killed someone at home and then went to the shops. Did he have lots of cleaning products in his basket?

My thoughts too.

Edit: I didn't notice the "my" in your post, seancal. I thought you were saying "Sounds like Grandpa stopped taking his medication again..."
I'm sorry about the above response. I thought it was just a regular general statement, until I noticed the "my" just now. I didn't mean to make any personal comment. I'm really sorry about that!

OP, he sounds creepy and possibly dangerous, is my thoughts on him. I'd be relieved to find he was just a shop lifter.

I saw the nut again!! This time the store security were pulling things out of his pockets and calling the police. This is what he does: He stops women, tells them jokes and proceeds to steal the very things that are in his cart. He smelled REALLY bad too.
