I sympathise with feeling you can't do anything right, I feel the same. Worse, I feel I've messed up almost all major decisions I've ever made, to the point that I have completely lost faith in my own judgment, and have no clue what I want to do, or even what I can do, with the rest of my life.
I'm sure that, for both of you, there are people out there that want you, there must be people out there that like not just your qualities but also your defects.

At age 16 I felt worthless. It age 53 I still feel worthless. Doesn't seem good.

Yeah, I feel like that. Then I reconcile myself with the fact that I must be useful to someone or else I'd be a basket case. I consider myself very lucky; at least I'm not being murdered in Kenya or some godawful African hole.
