Blah, blah: "Gallileo only said that the Earth wasn't at the center of the solar system because he was trying to make up for the attention that he didn't get from his mother as a child." "Women all secretly wish that they had a penis." "Tourette's syndrome and OCD are actual...

Yeah, a headache and exhaustion. For me, I think it's the processing demands and trying to remember all the rules/demands that people have. And, I guess that there's at best a 50%(80%?) chance that it's going to suck. That's stressful, too.

Because feeling superior to another person feels very good, maybe like heroin to a lot of people. It feels so good that they'll throw away their humanity, morality, empathy and intelligence. Feelings of superiority are the most destructive drug that exists. Or, put another way, because they can get ...

I do hope you are able to speak to the teachers some time. That would make you less "mysterious" in their eyes, and you have a good intelligence, that they need to know about. I don't agree with this advice. I think the more they know the worse things will get, and that intelligence is a ...

Agree. (My dad died on Thursday.)

Also, about things like complications of aging and illness (i.e. strokes, dementia, pain) with ASD.

In a world with no light, it is very, very dark.

In a world where tomorrow is yesterday and yesterday is next week, calendars are very complicated.

In a world where worlds are, there are worlds.

If you have to argue as to which diagnosis is more valid, then you could point out the greater number of hours spent performing specific tests in the former case, as opposed to being "undiagnosed" in 15 minutes (or whatever it was) with zero tests of any kind. It sounds like the latter doc...

IIRC, personality disorders occur in about 10% of the population, which makes them 10 times more frequent than ASD. So, the doctor may have seen lots of PD patients and zero ASD patients. In that case, IMO, they'd tend to lean toward the diagnosis they're more familiar with. Also, IME, a doctor bein...

It would be interesting to know the effects of things other than THC that are in MJ, like CBD, on ASD. I gather that CBD doesn't make you high (or does it?) and has positive effects for on various conditions.

It's another example of how literal, psychic-level empathy is a myth. It's a nonsensical statement that comes from not being able to comprehend the other person's reality and that you don't care to understand it. I'm sure a lot of people with Assison's and Parkinson's diseases heard that when the co...

Bullies are very attuned to recognizing who they can get away with bullying. I.e. A socially isolated person with low status, since people are less likely to care or believe what happens to such a person. I agree that on some semi-conscious level people like the existence of bullying, since if it is...

Dear dumbass doctor,

My mother had a cerebral hemorrhage ten years ago that you don't know about, which is why I explain things to her slowly. It's not sexism you self-righteous dumbfuck. If you're going to be a jerk then make sure your assumptions are actually true.

I never had the feeling of being out of control despite being drunk. It also doesn't make me massively more social (doesn't hurt, though). My dad would never look drunk no matter how much he had, so maybe there's some weird gene involved with that. YMMV. I don't miss it much, thankfully, but that's ...

Simulating physical systems numerically. The latest is building and programming a drone from scratch (which is sort of like a physical simulation in reverse). When I get the energy, at least.

I live where I grew up and have seen everything from every angle probably 10000 times, so, no, I don't get lost here. But I am always amazed at how different things (in other places) look when I'm going back the way I came. If it's somewhere I've never been before I will probably get lost if I try t...
