Dangerous psychopath Jenny McCarthy is joining The View as a co-host:

Quote:
Jenny McCarthy joins 'The View'

Gary Levin, USA TODAY 12:23 p.m. EDT July 15, 2013

It's official: Barbara Walters confirmed on Monday's The View that comedic actress Jenny McCarthy will join the chatfest when its 17th season begins Sept. 9.

The announcement comes just five days after Elisabeth Hasselbeck signed off for a new gig on Fox News Channel's Fox & Friends and continues a revolving door of talent on ABC's live talk show. Joy Behar is exiting later this summer and Walters, who created the show with producer Bill Geddie in 1997 will leave next May.

McCarthy, a brash blonde in a different mold than Hasselbeck, a right-leaning former Survivor contestant, has appeared on several sitcoms and in film roles. She also writes an advice column for her hometown Chicago Sun-Times.

McCarthy has appeared on the show 17 times, including eight as co-host. This year, she gained more practice with VH1's late-night The Jenny McCarthy Show, which aired from February to May but garnered low ratings. A VH1 spokesman said that show was "on hiatus," but the network has now released her from her contract.

"We are delighted that Jenny will be joining us as a permanent co-host," Walters says, adding McCarthy "brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view."

Not everybody shared Walters' delight. McCarthy, who has embraced the controversial claim that vaccinations cause autism, has drawn the ire of pro-immunization advocacy groups.

McCarthy's "unfounded claims that vaccines cause autism have been one of the greatest impediments to public health in recent decades," said Amy Pisani, executive director of one such group, Every Child By Two, in a letter to Walters and Geddie. "These false assertions, in addition to her condemnation of public health officials and the medical community overall, has spread fear among young parents, which has lead to an increased number of children who have not received life-saving vaccines."

Yeah, she's absolutely awful. I never watch "The View" (not surprising since I don't exactly fall in the primary demographic that they're aiming for), but this is absolutely terrible. You're pretty much giving her a chance to spread her dangerous and outrageous claims to millions more people than she's already reached, and sadly, some of the people that she'll reach via "The View" are going to agree with her. So, we'll have even more kids not getting vaccinated, who will depend on an increasingly fragile herd immunity, and of course more people spending their money towards research into bogus debunked potential causes of autism, instead of using those funds for things that are actually useful. Completely disgusting that she'll be on this show. I'm sure my rant is nothing you haven't heard before, but yeah, here's one more person disgusted by this news, if it makes you feel any better.

Besides the vaccine thing, she also claims to have "cured" her son's autism, which is problematic not only because people talking about curing us instead of creating a world where there is a place for us makes me feel like they really just want us to be like them or go away, but also because it might make some people think that it's that easy, that any of us already could be "cured" if we just wanted to or tried hard enough.

She's a money grubbing fame whore.

From what I remember, Jenny's son didn't even have Autism in the end, but Sally Housecoat will never see that snippet in Good Housekeeping Magazine.

I woukd never watch that squawking group of hot messes. This just gives me one more excuse not to.

I saw something else on this as well.

I think it's time that we (those on the spectrum) had a talkshow that actually put facts out there instead of McCarthy's half-*ssed theories that now, I guarentee, will go public and become a popular belief, despite the very real scientific facts that have disproved that theory.

We need something that has our interests and facts as the main focus in order to counteract the whole load of b.s. that society has been pushing in just this year alone.

Does anyone else notice that this year there's been more claims about Autism/AS that have no real basis whatsoever, than in the past five (at least that I've heard)?
And the result has been that people A) Hate/fear us. And B) Are now more afraid to immunize their kids, which ends up putting them (and others who weren't vaccinated) at risk for serious diseases.

What's next? "Autism is contageous"? (it wouldn't surprise me at this point, given the obvious lack of scientific thinking on the matter as of late)

I hunted down what was the other possible diagnosis the ditch pig's son could have had.

http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/land ... ndrome.htm

I believe the Times article mentioned her doubting the Autism diagnosis. I don't have a subscription, so I can't do online.

Guess a rare disease isn't as trendy as ASD, and you have to work harder to fame whoring tomake that diagnosis pay off.

Too bad that poor kid couldn't be abducted by wolves and raised. His mommy is all sorts of gross.

Glad I'm not the only one who considers that woman a menace to public health.

C'mon, people! Stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel!

Without violating the rules, of course... ;)

I didn't call her a whore.

I called her a fame whore. Fame whores will do anything to keep their mugs front a center in the public eye. Whether it's flashing their chest fat in some "gentlemen's magazine", or using their own kids' health issues to pad their bank account.

If it wasn't her child's supposed cure, and how she stands up for the common mom against
the medico industrial complex, no one would hire this Z listed turdlette except for informericals.

She makes all people with Autism to be damaged goods, and victims.

Nice to see the Cure At All Cost minions will have a mouth piece front and center, perhaps frothing up people to drive policy changes.

ABA and social skills classes for all. Except when you are 18+. Adults are magically cured at 18 dontcha know....lol...

The problem with her getting this job (as I see it) is as follows. According to one source, "The View" has a viewership of 3.5 million. That is 3.5 million people that will be watching Jenny McCarthy spew her incorrect statements about autism, cures, sources and reasons... We already have enough problems with perceptions and awareness... this is going to complicate our lives a great deal

Agreed, that's why I myself have a problem with her being on The View. It's almost a guarentee that the topic will come up at least a few times a month, and people, not knowing the difference between fact and fiction, will choose to believe a celebrity instead of looking for facts and learning for a change.

I still think we need our own show, to post real facts and to counteract the spewage coming from people who don't know any better. Even if it were only youtube, it could get popular and the word would then be out there. At least then, people could make real informed decisions as to what they believe.

What format for this show would you suggest?

I love you to death man... but guess what? That show would suck... we aren't the most entertaining of groups... unless it was a reality show, and then... I'd weep for the impression we'd give people

lol you're probably right. I don't think people would watch a show for it's information and that's about all it would be. Kind of like watching PBS.

Oh well, it's the thought that counts :P
