at the risk of seeming dense- the difference is, this person KNOWS me, has MET me, and was exceedingly easy to like, but online I don't get the same thing. THAT is what I have a hard time understanding. what has changed just because each party is on one end of a wire?

Jesus Christ, I know you can read because your responses sorta follow my posts, but come on, this isn't the first time, tenth time, or fiftieth time you've completely misread a post of mine. Clearly, since I've met Blabby, and say so right in the post, I don't think you're the same person, I just think someone could make that mistake watching you two talk, it's like watching someone talk to themself.

Blabs, you're at least as different online as I am, and not in a good way either. Between the judgment, the condescension, and the persecution complex, it's not easy to deal with you, I mean you read dark intentions into everything, stand around in threads making insulting comments that apply to people participating in the threads, absolutely drip judgment (really, 'god' is going to "deal with me"?) and lets not forget that it's you who started accusing me of toying with people and having bad intentions, multiple times, and long before I informed you that I was taking the gloves off if you kept it up. Yes, I know you, but you know me too, and you started this, and I can prove it. This is from a full year ago:

the examples you listed did not have me addressing you directly or specifically. you seem to take any alien opinion as a personal attack and that is a wrong thing to do, IMHO. btw, you sure are up late.

Would some moderator please put an end to the people who post responses that fill the page with quotations? It is very annoying. There is no need to dissect each argument point by point. It is really not that difficult to just formulate a concise response. I know I have seen a moderator address this issue before, but the offenders, thinking themselves above the rules and terms of WP, just refuse to comply. What they want to do is drown out the truth because they have no real response to truth and facts other than to try to shout over everyone who disagrees with them. And anyone who disagrees with them who uses the same tactics will be threatened with banishment by the moderators who side with above mentioned members members instead of remaining impartial.

A much higher quality of argument can be achieved with a point-by-point rebuttal. It's also much easier to follow the conversation. There is certainly a need and I would invite you to point out where in the "rules and terms of WP" is says that you can't do it.

Point-by-point responses do not "drown out the truth". If anything they come closer to the truth than the blind, blithe assertions made by the more-partisan or less-evidence-based posters.

The bigger problem is people quoting a long post and giving a one-line response, or not trimming out embedded quotes. This is worst in the Film And TV forum but still applies here.

1. You're not even in this thread.
2. There's nothing in the terms of use about fisking as it is common practice for tidily addressing multiple points. It's no one's fault if you have a persecution complex.
3. Where's the shouting? THIS IS SHOUTING ON A MESSAGE BOARD OR LIVE CHAT, not this.
4. If I'm not mistaken, one of the mods has chastised you for accusing them of being partisan when you got all butthurt over one of the gun rights debate threads that you started and resorted to personal attacks.
5. Three mods have resigned in the past week or so.

Having been in several threads where you and "this person" were involved, it's plainly clear that "this person" has been far more fair and civil to you than you have been to him. I could type several paragraphs on what I've observed but to synopsize, in your eyes anyone not a liberal/democrat or at least scathingly critical of all things conservative/republican is out to get you personally.
