I've noticed in the photo section that we all have really gorgeous eyes. And not just in shape and size, but the colours seem more vibrant and unusual.

I'm interested in the hereditary aspect of AS, and I'm wondering to myself if there is a link to eye colour.

I've been thinking of this ever since I saw this picture:Image

All three have amazing eyes! Is there something going on here, or am I just being a weirdo?

I know a lot of people don't want to post pics of themselves, but a pic of one eye won't give anything away, and it would be cool to get a good sample for added reference.

I'm also curious - do your eyes seem to change colour? Mine do, they are "Hazel" but sometimes are almost all green or almost all brown.

There was a Russian scientist who bred foxes, selecting for tameness. After several generations, the tamest ones had floppy ears, while the aggressive ones had pointier, standy-uppier ones.

So, perhaps in the same vein our unique mental structures are tied in to our eye colour. Silicon Valley, chock full o geniuses, has one of the highest autism rates in America - IQ is heritable as well.

I have brown, but I seriously doubt eye color has anything to do with AS :P Considering NTs all have diff eye color as well.

I've seen this discussion before on other autism discussion boards. I'm not sure where my opinion on the subject lies, as of yet.
I have brown eyes, and my husband has green eyes. You'd think that with our 3 kids one would have brown eyes, too, but nope. Two have green eyes, and one has blue. The two that have green eyes had blue eyes until they were about 4, then they changed. I also have brown hair, but my two ASD boys both have blond hair, and my daughter's hair is very light brown. The genes don't seem to make sense in my family.

Big dark green eyes. I'm really fair, but around my eyes I look shady (naturally). I have blonde hair (naturally) but my thick eyebrows and eyelashes are very dark. Kind of a strange combination, I'm told.

Personally, I like others with brown eyes oftentimes. They seem reflective except I cannot look directly into another's eyes.

True, but some colours are rarer than others.

Only %2 of the general population has green eyes, for instance. And again, if you go through the "post a picture of yourself" thread you'll see some rare, striking colours.

There's a sort of "faraway" look in all of our eyes, too.

WHOA! I love green eyes! Big'uns! You sound beautiful.

Brave enough to post an eye pic?

Mine are just like yours, Kurtz. I just checked, and they're green. I've never taken the time to determine how/when/whys, but I think its seasonal. They're sort of a sea green with hazel for the inner ring and a tint of orange, at least now. Other times they turn brown.

Adding to the subject, does anyone else prefer the color of one eye to the other? I prefer the left, because it seems more symmetrical and the colors are smoother.

both my parents, and all 4 grandparents have/had blue eyes, just like me.. but my sister randomly has hazel eyes.. lol. and her's change colors, too!! but they're like a mood ring... they change colors with her mood!! when she's deep thinking, they turn brown. when she's emotional, they turn blue. when she's angry, they turn almost brick red with yellow at the top. when she's *ahem* frisky, they turn green.. here's a pic of her eyes ^_^ (wish i had a bigger pic, so you could see better... i'll have to take some pics while she's down for thanksgiving ^_^)

Steely grey here. I am in fact glad "grey" was offered as a choice, as grey is often presented as synonymous with blue, though it is not. I hate to be pegged as blue.

Once again, closeup example here:

And other examples here:

Good fortune,

- Icarus has one eye on this world, and one eye in his delusional world...
