I'm not convinced my AS diagnosis is right, although it is from a specialist clinic. Personally I feel I am just too lazy to get anything done, if I just tried harder, I would be 'normal'. And that has lead to the development of the anxiety and depression, which I feel is my own fault too. You soun...

I was diagnosed with NLD when I was 40. Before that I usually thought I was lazy and that everyone else had so much more stamina than me because they were obviously hyper-focusing all of the time to pull it all off. I must've intuited something, though, because I remember in the 80s asking a therapi...

I live alone in a small studio apartment. In the past I've had neighbors who would knock on my door at unpredicible intervals but not now and this is much better. I have my cave. Always, when I was and am with people most of the day I need awake time to lie in the dark secure in the fact that I won'...

How is "severe Asperger's" distinguished from an autistic person diagnosed with autism of a similar severity? When you give the same thing two different names and then rank those labeled one way in a particular way and those labeled another way in a particular way, does the distinction really count...

I don't know if this is the same thing or not. In essays in the like or even in class lectures if the speaker is organized I get the main idea, but in my nemesis, real life situations, I have more of a problem. Last week I went to a workshop on filling out employment applications and a sample questi...

I also thought that she was too interested in trying to distance herself from 'those autistics', like it's alright to have one-dimensional stereotypes as long as they're not about me. The argument that made me think was the one that said, severe aspergers isn't mild. I thought, okay there is a point...

While I agree with a few of her points my first reaction is, How convient for Autism Speaks when aspergers is a separate diagnosis from autism, and vice versa. When those annoying aspies challenge them, just say they don't have autism, they're not qualified to comment.

I didn't respond to the poll but I have an NVLD diagnosis and, after I read the list of female Aspie characteristics, I would add suspected Aspergers. I have a 29 point V>P score. V=131, P=102. Highest verbal = Similarities and Letter/Number sequencing. Lowest=Arithmetic. Highest performance = Matri...

Maybe I'm just stating the obvious. I was on a bus today, one that runs only on Sundays, going to a natural area just outside of town. Someone I know from a group I'm part of got on and sat down next to me, so I did the obligatory conversation thing to the best of my ability. About 3/4 of the way th...

I got 32%. It did focus a lot on lack of social interest, which I match strongly, and not so much on sensitivities, which I have but they're pretty mild. Overall I think it was fair. So many of us have answered it that we could start the process of testing its validity, and even reliability if we wa...

I first read this list from a post in the women's section (a few days ago). This made me seriously consider the possibility that I'm not just an asocial NLDer but an Aspie. Yeah, I don't bounce around so much now but when I was in Jr High and went to dances I would get so excited I would just jump u...

I didn't get the flu vaccine this year. I got the flu, and I still have NVLD/possible Aspergers.
